Dedicated People Make the Difference
The Cincinnati Works staff is a dedicated group of people with passion and a belief in the fundamental resiliency of people. Often we have to believe in our members before they believe in themselves. Our staff works one-on-one with our Members helping them to overcome their obstacles to employment as well as monitoring their progress after they are employed.
 

Peggy Zink, President
B.A. Engineering Sciences, Dartmouth College; M.A. Pastoral Ministry, The Athenaeum of Ohio; 24 years in Business & Management Consulting

The President is responsible for the oversight of the vision and mission, strategic direction, finances, and operations of the organization.


Glaisha A. Atkinstall, Legal Advocate
B.S. Criminal Justice, Xavier University; M.A. Communication, Michigan State; 9 years Education & Training.
The Legal Assistant meets with members to identify legal issues hindering employment acquisition and retention.  Connecting the Member with available resources and pertinent information to resolve legal issue(s) and working closely in conjunction with the Legal Aid Society of Cincinnati.

The Director of Member Services manages the Employment Support Specialists and a case load which includes participants from the Cincinnati Initiative to Reduce Violence, a hard to hire population.

 

Carol Buschhaus, Training Coordinator & Retention Specialist
B.S. Marketing, Indiana University; M.A. Education, Xavier University; Vocational Teacher

The Training Coordinator, in partnership with the Director of Employment Services, develops, monitors and adjusts curriculum materials and activities to ensure marketplace relevancy and successful preparation of Job Readiness Workshop participants.  This includes the case load management of Members reaching a minimum of 6-months job retention by focusing their attention on the necessary steps for reaching self-sufficiency and ensuring smooth transition to the Advancement Coordinator at the 12-month job retention point.
 
Jacque Edmerson, Behavioral Counselor, Tri-Health
MSW, LISW University of Cincinnati, Community Mental Health
The Behavioral Counselor provides direct service to Cincinnati Works Members for their behavioral health needs. The Counselor facilitates workshop curriculum on topics such as fear, change, attitudes, communication and conflict resolution. Individual counseling is also provided to Members and their families. The Behavioral Health function is much like an Employee Assistance Program for Cincinnati Works Members.
 

Gloria Hill, Customer Service Representative

The Customer Service Representative is the "first impression" for the organization providing a welcoming, warm, respectful, and encouraging experience. The CSR requires the ability to meet the needs of a diverse population which includes job seekers, funders, community partners, and board members.

 

Linda Humphries, Recruiter & Chaplain
Cincinnati Works Member
The Recruiter interviews, screens, assesses and recruits jobseekers for the Job Readiness Workshop and Advancement Program while offering Members’ support and spiritual guidance for a positive life and work endeavors. 

 

Nakiya Kirton, Director of Community Relations & Marketing
B.S. Major, Fashion Design & Merchandising, Minor, Marketing, Kent State University

The Director of Community Relations & Marketing builds Member referral relationships with social service providers, other nonprofit organizations, churches, and individuals. The Director is responsible for development and execution of the marketing plan.

 

Nancy McKee, Employment Support Specialist*

B.A. Psychology, Northern Kentucky University

*The Employment Support Specialists provide support for Cincinnati Works Members in the processes of job readiness, job acquisition, and retention with the ultimate goal of promoting self-sufficiency. They proactively assist in problem solving with Members to manage plans to eliminate barriers to successful employment. 

 

Vickie Mertz, Advancement Coordinator

Career in Workforce Development

The primary focus of this position is to help Members achieve economic self-sufficiency through career advancement via career assessment, planning, and coaching.

 

Glenna Parks, Director of Operations
17 years in Human Resources, Insurance Industry
The Director of Operations manages the staff working with Members and Employers in addition to overseeing office administration.

 

Amy Roberts, Next Step Employment Support Specialist*

B.S. Journalism, University of Alabama

The Next Step ESS manages a general population case load which includes foster youth participants transitioning to adulthood.

 

Everly Rose, Director of Employment Services
M.A. Human Resources, Xavier University
The primary focus of the Director of Employment Services is to recruit qualified area employers for employment and advancement opportunities for Cincinnati Works Members. She also concentrates on building relationships with a core group of employers.
 
Gale Parrish Sheldon, Director of Development
B.S. Education, Education for Ministry Certification, Funding and Marketing work as a Trustee on 14 Community Boards
The Director of Development seeks new funding while maintaining relationships with our loyal investors. The Director assists with building community awareness among potential investors, and offers methods of investing through planned giving and other designated gifts.
 

Shirley A. Smith, Resource Specialist
Cincinnati Works Member
The Resource Specialist provides research on current labor market trends and employment opportunities in careers paying a self-sufficient wage and articulates pathways and resources to qualify for these positions including identifying prospects resulting in leads for employment and advancement of Cincinnati Works Members.

 

Thomas Stilgenbauer, Chief Financial Officer
B.B.A.University of Cincinnati, 37 years executive and financial management.
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the financial controls, financial statements, budgets, and financial analysis for the organization. The CFO is a member of the Investment Committee and the 401K Trust Committee, and is a liaison between the organization and the Audit Committee. In addition, the CFO assists with human resources and benefit administration.

 

Maribeth Wojcik, Job Lead Developer
Administrative, Financial Assistance
The Job Lead Developer identifies employer prospects resulting in leads for both employment of Cincinnati Works’ Members and potential employer partnerships.
