“Mark” approached the Coach for help because his wages were being garnished due to medical bills from emergency surgery for a family member. The garnishments had unexpectedly tripled and Mark didn’t know what to do. The Coach suspected something was incorrect and provided the employee with instructions for how to seek support from the court. Mark followed the Coach’s guidance instructions and discovered the garnishment increase was due to clerical errors. The judge immediately adjusted the garnishments and the employee can now purchase his necessary medications (which the employee had cut to afford food and his mortgage). The Coach and the employee continue to work on the budget with a “rainy day” fund as well as mental health strategies to cope with stress and anxiety. Mark now has a much more positive outlook on the situation with hope for the future.
