Juanita Guilford had worked for 11 years in housekeeping at The Christ Hospital and dreamed of a career in a patient-care role. But when she was offered an opportunity for that role, she was preparing to turn it down. The thought of switching roles at age 63 made her nervous. Juanita met with her Coach, and they talked about her goals and ways to make it a reality. The Coach showed her how the patient-care role fit both her personality and her career goals and helped arrange for Juanita to shadow a hospital colleague in a patient-care role. Two weeks later, Guilford accepted the position. “She didn’t try to convince me, she just showed me. And that showed me that she was really listening,” she said. “I never knew I could be this happy, actually happy.”
